Distance for convenience goods
Distance for white goods
Distance for furniture
Distance for electronic goods
Distance for vehicles
etc

As far as it takes to find a quality product. But probably not more than 3 hours.

India’s Import Tax Laws?

September 23, 2009 - 9:21 pm 1 Comment

I want to find out how the Indian government places tax on their imports esp. electronic goods. Is there a comprehensive database or website I can retrieve such info? Or are there kind hearted indian lawyers able to advise me on this??? =( THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

I would like to brief you about custom duty in India on its imports:
1.Basic customs duty: 10 to 15%
2.Countervailing duty: 16%
3.cess on the above: 3%
4.Special additional duty: 4%.(in some cases)

I am practicing CA and can answer your specific questions, you may contact me suresh@sjwandco.com.

I love Electronic & Software Engineering, but I can’t find a job to satisfy my interests, suggestions?

I live in the UK, where real engineering seems to be dead…it all seems to have gone to the US or China. I’m on a really good wage, and am contemplating taking a research diploma that pays a 3rd of my current wage just to feel happy.

There must be something exciting going on in the UK?

Join the merchant marines and work on their electronics or computers.

Is there any good chinese web sites that i order some electronic from uk for cheap ?

Best Buy Electronic Store deliberate misguidance?

September 23, 2009 - 9:20 pm 5 Comments

I need some guidance on handling a problem I recently experienced through Best Buy. My mother took her computer in because it was acting extremely sluggish and freezing up. Initially they told her it was $59.99 for a diagnostic exam. Later in the week she recieved a phone call telling her to fix the problem they needed to run extensive diagnostics and repair which would cost an additional $199.99 because they found viruses. They took our the viruses and installed some childsafe software and the total came to $370. They then called and said they discovered it was actually a bad harddrive and it needed to be replaced (an extra $100). Since replacing the harddrive will completely eliminate the work they did previously, I am wondering what our rights, as customers are. She specifically asked if she it was cheaper to buy a new computer and was told her computer is good and should last about 3 more years. Should they have been able to diagnose the bad harddrive from the inital tests

Report it to a manager. Demand an itemized invoice of precisely what they have done, how they have done it and when they did it.

I have never had nor heard in all my years, any good experiences when sending a computer to a "professional" for repair. If at all possible find someone you know and trust. Or just ask us: we’re geeks for free.

Dose any one know a good electronics kit for beginners?

September 23, 2009 - 9:20 pm 1 Comment

I’m trying to learn the basics of electronics and I tried reading electronic books but it’s too confusing.I’m looking for a electronics set thant includes the basic components (resistors, capacitors, transistors ect.) tells you how they work and allows you to build a few circuits. I don’t want a set for little kids but I don’t want anything too complicated.I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out.

Hi
For the best possible advice, I highly recommend you contact your local supplier or the Manufacturer.
