Is there a good electronics store in canada?

October 28, 2009 - 8:42 am 1 Comment

I want to buy some resistors dials and switches. maybe some capacitors too. where in canada can I get them. It would be good if I could get things mailed to my house.

Depends where you are in Canada. For most components it is best to get them from your neighbourhood electronics store. In a pinch, The Source will have some components in stock and they’re all over the place and have longer hours than most electronics stores, but they can be expensive liking to charge $5 for 25 cents worth of resistors. There are a couple of American companies that sell electronics to customers in Canada. Newark takes care of the duty and tax for you and charges a flat rate of $12 CAD for everything you order as long as it totals up under 50 lbs and it will arrive to most major cities within one day. Digikey also takes care of its Canadian customers. Shipping starts at $8.

Which is better Electronics or Electrical Engineering in terms of studying and salary. ?

p.s. – I am from Canada. What is the future of electronics engineering and electronics engineering in Canada? Which engineer earns more per annum from these two. Moreover, what do you think of the future of Mechanical Engineering in Alberta and other parts of Canada. If possible, tell how much average each type of these engineers mentioned earns per annum.

I am from Alberta, Canada. A recent Electrical Engineering Grad. I’ve seen salaries from my peers ranging between 55 – 75. The higher range will be found in Oil & Gas. As long as you have a degree, Electrical or Electronics will suffice. Chances are you will not be using half of what you learned in school anyways. Mechanical Engineers in Alberta have plenty of job opportunities, maybe even more than electricals and I believe there future looks promising. It would be a good idea to speak with someone from APEGGA for more information. I’ve included a source that shows salaries amongst engineers in Alberta.

America sold out?

October 26, 2009 - 11:03 am 2 Comments

Manufacturing either going overseas or bought out here. Eyptians, Turks, Chinese…. buying & selling American companies. Government sponsors immigrant labor dominating that work force. We buy cheap goods/ electronic through Mart stores all made in China, Japan, Indonesia, Honduras… Where are we headed?
Tech jobs? Whole computer industry had a major downturn just a few years ago. Buying a Dell? They laid off most of their tenured employees and rehired at 1/3 pay, minimal benefits…

Cheap labor in other countries means cheaper products for US consumers. When US consumers spend and buy products our economy goes up. It is true that we lose jobs here but we are more advanced than other countries and the people that lose their jobs should be looking into educating themselves for the more advanced tech/manuf jobs.

What would be a good non-valueble item to take to a sleepaway camp?

I am going to a sleepaway camp, and i was going to bring a PSP, but i dont want it getting stolen. Any good ideas for a cheap electronic i can take?

Well if you’re looking for a cheap way to play games, have you thought about putting down the electronic ones and playing a board or card game? If they were lost or stolen, you wouldn’t care. Plus, it’s something you can interact with other people. Games are always more fun playing against/with others.

If you do want something electronic, you can always get those cheapie Blackjack battery powered games they sell just about anywhere for under $10.

I need to take my ps3 for repair i need to find a good electronic shop in manhattan?

MY PS3 PLAYS MY DVD MOVIES BUT WON’T PLAY MY GAMES

Sounds like a Blu-ray Disc laser problem, which means it would play DVDs, but not Blu-ray movies or games.

The only electronic shop I would recommend is Sony. Your PS3 can be repaired by other companies, but Sony is the only authorized repair facility for the PS3: http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=106&p_sid=dVTNMJKj&p_lva=1212

how can i use eBay for selling electronics goods online?please help.?

Register as a member at www.ebay.com.sg and you can start selling.

Think twice before you sell on ebay as ebay likes to suspend members for no good reason.

NO LONGER A REGISTERED USER next to the member’s ID means that the member is suspended. You can see a lot of such accounts at eBay website.

Is US keen to follow others to boost up their internal economy for the benefits of the whole Nation?

Can you subsidise 15% to boost up local sale by 100% on local products? Can US do it like China? Why SO?
The Chinese government is offering subsidies to encourage consumption in order to bolster the economy.

China learn from Taiwan issues of Purchase Vouchers NT3000 and they do it by discount of electronic goods to rural region by 15% to save local producers.
As can see the purpose of action:
1) To let the have not, have it as a joy.
2) Save the industries, save jobs
3) Expenditure spread for whole country
4) Open up the market

Duke……U misunderstand the process. If you subsidise the manufactured goods to bring down the price for export, it valid the rule in WTO. If you discount your local products in purchase power for local to boost up the transaction, is not wrong. If possible, can give them free when Govt can afford it. The doing is the same as those giving out purchase vouchers to citizen to buy products like Taiwan and other countries..

the chinese adopt a basically egalitarian philosophy and want to see that even the poorest can get some luxury goods that have been so long only for the rich. USA does not share that philosophy. so, USA business and govt., will not adopt a policy of subsidizing luxury goods for sale to the poor. they want to maximize per unit profitability on these items, and do not care if a few thousand people lose jobs and livelihood in the process.

Shops that sell Infrared Illuminator/LEDs?

October 24, 2009 - 9:56 am 2 Comments

Does anybody know any good surveillance/electronic shop in Singapore? Could either be local online or offline shop. I am not sourcing for a surveillance camera but am looking for a shop who kind of sell Infrared illuminator lamps and infrared LEDs. And I need to know the LED’s specifications well like its wavelength, angle, etc.

I have looked almost every shop in Sim Lim Square and Tower but many do not know the specifications of the IR LEDs/lamps they are selling. Online shops that states all the specifications are usually overseas ones and the shipping fees are high.

thanks!

The last time that I was in Singapore was in 1968 on leave?

Who does regulate the website name in the UK?

October 24, 2009 - 9:56 am 1 Comment

I found a scam website selling electronic gadgets, but they does not exist. Unfortunately their website uses co.uk which makes people think that they are a good shop.
So if I want to report the misuse of the co.uk, to whom should I report?

Firstly you should find out who the .co.uk domain belongs to. You can do this by visiting http://www.who.is/. Then type in the address and all the details of the owner should come up. You should then contact the person directly, whilst keeping all copies of any correspondance which you send, should this be used in a court.

Under the registrar sector of the who.is results page it will show you who the company registered with. You should aslo contact this company explaining that they are in breech of the terms and conditions of their policies by commiting fraud. Be sure to demand a response on what action they are willing to take and get this in writing.

Finally visit the Nominet website who is the governing body for all .co.uk sites. They will be able to help you further however they never take on any cases unless you show that you have attempted to contact the owners directly.

Hope this helps
