Get a renter’s insurance policy – it will cover your laptop and everything else in your rental in case of theft, fire, flood, etc. If you want to back up the information on your laptop, try Carbonite.com, which is an online site that keeps all your info in case your laptop is stolen or damaged.

Electronic Stores In Toronto,Canada?

July 11, 2010 - 5:58 am 8 Comments

Hey,
Im in Canada and I want to buy an iPod touch, what good electronic stores are there ?
Im in Canada/Toronto/Richmond Hill …. and if u got a site and prices plz tell
Thankkk Youuu xx

Future Shop sells the iPod Touch along with Best Buy. I’m not sure how much GB (gigabytes) you would need for an iPod Touch however.

Prices for the iPod Touch at Future Shop are as follows:
8GB iPod Touch: $198.99
32GB iPod Touch: $298.99
64GB iPod Touch: $398.99

Also if you live downtown or anywhere within the City of Toronto, you can go to the Apple Store. Store locations can be founded here:
http://www.apple.com/ca/retail/storelist/

If you live near Markham, Tiger Direct also sells the iPod touch. I’m not sure if the iPod Touch is sold at the "brick and mortar" Tiger Direct locations, but you can buy it online through them. Prices can be founded here:

Should i sell my drum kit for an electronic one?

July 8, 2010 - 11:22 am 3 Comments

I have a pdp 805 series drum kit with sabian B8 symbals… and my family hates me playing because its too loud for them, so i wanted to get an electronic one to put in my room so nobody can hear me play… so i was wandering if I should:
1. keep the one that i have now and get a cheap electronic one
OR
2. sell the one that i have now and get a really good electronic one

KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE. the electric drum sets are alright, but they’re no substitution. you can buy an electric set for really cheap. roughly $400-$600 depending on where you go.

July 5, 2010 - 8:34 pm 2 Comments

How the remote control in consumer electronics goods work?

July 5, 2010 - 8:33 pm 2 Comments

In TV,Is Infra red type or RF is used and why the choice?

Most remotes use infra-red.

The reason is that they work pretty well, have good durability and battery life, and are quite cheap. They use a microcomputer with some dedicated circuitry to generate pulses. The TV has a detector that is similar.

Also, RF devices typically require FCC approval, a tedious and expensive task.

If I was to ship goods (like new electronics) from the United States to Canada, would they charge taxes?

July 2, 2010 - 8:17 pm 1 Comment

Like would they open the package to see what’s inside, and then charge taxes according to the value of the goods?

The recipient is responsible for any taxes. They will pay any duties plus GST and PST. Normally this is based upon the declared value, however all Customs authorities inspect a sample of all shipments to verify the accuracy of the declarations. If they feel that the declared value is too low, they will assess duties and taxes based upon their estimate of the FMV of the goods in their country.
