With eBay you are guaranteed to get lots of people looking at your equipment. The only thing is they have high fees. Electronic goods sell well on eBay, but the finishing price for the same item can vary by 25% or more! You can search for the items you are planning to sell and tick the "view completed items" tickbox. This will tell you the finishing price it went for or whether it sold (prices in green show the item sold and prices in red show it didn’t sell at the advertised price). With eBay you have a choice to start at a low price and then let the people bid it up, or set a reserve price or set a "buy it now" price. You don’t say where you are from but there is an online site that is free to advertise on called www.gumtree.com so you could advertise you equipment at a fixed price and people will contact you if they are interested in it.

what US companies deliver electronic goods, like digital cameras, to the UK?

None… you DO know there are terrifs involved, don’t you.

What is the value of electronic goods that I can take out of the USA when I travel back to the UK?

September 14, 2009 - 1:25 am 1 Comment

The USA doesn’t care what you export in your luggage – most US airlines depart their international flights from their domestic terminals, and you are therefore not inspected any differently than a domestic passenger. That said, they are looking for cash, so don’t try and bring hundreds of thousands of dollars in currency through screening unless you want a very long night. Of course, how you declare your bag of electronics when you arrive in the UK is another story.

Market Report – Asia Tech Rallies

August 26, 2009 - 5:24 pm No Comments

Improved demand for electronic goods saw technology shares rally in Asia. Tech-heavy Taiwan has been one of the best-performing stock markets in the world this year. And Taiwan shares are leading the rise across Asia as companies such as chipmaker UMC jump on signs of improved demand. Japan’s Nikkei also gained today after the government announced a bigger-than-expected stimulus package of $154 billion—that’s about 3 percent of Japan’s GDP. The spending package will target eco-friendly electronics, giving a boost to companies like Sony and Panasonic. And some of the economic data form the region also provided hope for a recovery. Japanese core machinery orders posted a surprising increase of 1.4 percent. But over in Australia, there’s been a slowdown. Data shows that the country shed jobs at the fastest pace in six years, while unemployment jumped by the most since 1991.
