I have a pdp 805 series drum kit with sabian B8 symbals… and my family hates me playing because its too loud for them, so i wanted to get an electronic one to put in my room so nobody can hear me play… so i was wandering if I should:
1. keep the one that i have now and get a cheap electronic one
OR
2. sell the one that i have now and get a really good electronic one

KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE. the electric drum sets are alright, but they’re no substitution. you can buy an electric set for really cheap. roughly $400-$600 depending on where you go.

If you just use the set at home for yourself go with the electric. If you use it in a band keep the set you have. As a bass player I hate when a drummer has an electric kit!

You’ll be sorry is you sell your drum kit if you decide to join a band. Electronic ones for stage just don’t have the right feel and sound. You would also need an amp to actually hear it. Or headphones.
