In India, which power meter is better?
Electronic one or the ordinary ones?
And why?
Electronic meters are better, as they are very accurate and can not be easily tempered. On the other hand ordinary meters can be easily tempered and some time give false reading.
Also in many states, electricity board are making electronic meter compulsory.

If the electronic ones have the ability to be read electronically from a distance the the readings can either be collected by a passing van or radioed in. Either way it would improve the accuracy and frequency of the readings. Also they could provide a profile of energy use over the day hence lower rates could be charged at night while higher rates during peak usage periods.
The analog ones are typically read manually and often the meter readers will just prorate based upon prior readings with only the occasional correction reading every few months, this originally started as a way to get through the route and to the bar faster but the companies have accepted the practice as unavoidable and as a reason to reduce staff since it’s a labour saving practice.
As to tampering, they’re both equally vulnerable to tampering. If anything, the electronic ones would be easier to mimic in whatever media it communicates in such that a unit could be bypassed or disabled and false readings issued by a home computer and would be physically checked for tampering less often, perhaps not at all.
