Are items in a grocery store difficult to find on purpose?

They could have a better system, perhaps an electronic directory that tells people where things are in aisles. And they are always moving things around according to the season. Why isn’t the ice cream stored next to the milk? Wouldn’t that make more sense?
Yes.
It’s so that you have to walk round and round the store looking for what you want, passing by all the things that you don’t want but might pick up on impulse.
Store layouts change so that you still have to walk round and round the store and don’t just go to the item you want, pick it up, pay for it and walk out without having passed by 1,000 other things that you have absolutely no need for.

They make it hard to find things so you have to walk around and look more. This ups your chance of picking up things you did nto really want in the first place.

Grocery stores are put together on a system because they want you to have to walk around the store and see things.A lot of sales are from ‘impulse’ buys which means that if they can make you see something you didn’t really go for then you’ll buy it.Milk and meat are always at the back because that’s what most people buy so in order to get to those things they make you walk to the back so your eyes will see lots of other things in hopes that you’ll buy something else. And that’s why chocolate bars and stuff are always at the front because you might not have gone there for one but when you see them…all of a sudden your brain tells you you want one.
