Is it cheaper to buy electronic appliances-goods online directly from a manufacturers site ?

as somebody told me back in 2002 ?
i.e a dyson vacuum cleaner purchased FROM dyson would be cheaper by 25% he said.
he also said that buying a Fridge Freezer from LG directly FROM LG would be cheaper too.
was he talking out of his a$$ ?
online shopping, is it considerably cheaper ?
Seeing as electronics manufacturers will not sell directly to retail customers in the U.K. at all, I think you know where he was talking from…

Well, depends really.
You could compare the prices on the manufacturer’s site with those on the store’s site.
Some stores like Comet sell cheaper online than instore. I know new iPods are generally the same price anywhere they are sold as they are so widely available.

one word.
well 3 actually.
Singapore Black Market.
back in 2000 (and haha nobody did nothing and nobody CAN do nothing about it today) i went to Singapore for a month, I came back home with over £500 worth of PC gaming titles. guess how much i spent ? £25 lol.
oh and I brought an LCD 21 inch tv from there too, won’t mention the brand name cos it might cause a stir etc – but lets just say that there werent many like it around that year, and 3 years LATER – i saw a model just like it on sale !
