Bobby Sanders, with Gelder’s Harmonic Six. 1929.

‘That’s You Baby’ (Gottler, Mitchell & Conrad).
Bobby Sanders.
from “Fox Movietone Follies”.

Bobby Sanders was recording with Henry Hall & the Gleneagles Hotel Dance Band shortly after this date.
This record is the ‘In House’ label of Curry’s Ltd, the British multiple retailer of electrical appliances still trading today.
Earlier Curry labels refer to ‘Curry’s Cycle Stores’ but by this time the store was selling domestic household goods too;Wireless sets and Gramophones as well as cycles, perambulators and motor scooters.

The Curry label seems to have been taken in the main from Piccadilly record pressings, though I do posses a Herman Darewski Parlophone record which found it’s way on to the Curry label?. Piccadilly ceased trading in April 1932, did the Curry label end at this point I wonder?.

A good tune this, from an early Talkie, accompanied by Geoffrey Gelder’s Harmonic Six.
